TEAM MCKOON ELECTED UNANIMOUSLY TO LEAD MUSCOGEE COUNTY REPUBLICAN PARTY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
At their County Convention held on Saturday, March 24, the Muscogee County Republican Party unanimously elected Josh McKoon, a local trial attorney and longtime GOP activist, to serve as Chairman for the 2007-2009 term. McKoon succeeds former Chairman Robert W. Doll, who had served as Chairman for the last four years and is currently seeking election as First Vice Chair of the Georgia Republican Party. McKoon has previously served as Secretary of the Muscogee County Republican Party, General Counsel to the Georgia Federation of Young Republican Clubs and Chairman of the Muscogee County Young Republicans.
At 28 years of age, McKoon is among the youngest County GOP Chairmen in Georgia and the youngest Chairman of any County with a population over 80,000. After the election was completed Saturday, McKoon said, “This is a new day. We are going to reinvigorate our grassroots and build on our victory for Sonny Perdue in Muscogee County last year. We are going to do more outreach and communication and bring local, state and national conservative leaders to Columbus to promote our philosophy of a strong national defense, fiscal conservatism and traditional values. Thank you for placing your faith in me as your new Chairman and I will do everything in my power to continue to earn your trust over the next two years.”
Elected with McKoon was his slate of executive officers including Colin Martin, First Vice Chair, Mitch Zamora, Second Vice Chair, Marjorie Newman, Third Vice Chair, David Helmick, Secretary and Kevin Earley, Treasurer. McKoon expects to announce his appointees to the Executive Committee of the Party within days and looks forward to implementing his Vision 2008 plan immediately.
